WHO?

Who are you that you are afraid of man?
men die.
Who are you that you have forgotten the LORD your maker?
He created.
Who are you that you fear continuously all day?
You are FREE.
For I AM the Lord your God. i have put my words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of MY hand.
Who are you?
You are MINE.

[Isaiah 51:12-16...loosely adapted]

God smacked me over the head with this tonight. The very beginning of this passage says "I, even I, am He who comforts you".
The writer then goes back and forth in the passage asking this rhetorical question: "Who do you think you are?", why are you so fearful? God is in control, God is altogether too powerful for you to have any inkling of fear!
It is only after God explains who HE IS, and how he places His words in us, and protects us with his very own hand, that he then tells us who WE ARE. and when he tells us who we are he says that we are HIS.
Beautiful.
We only know who we are through knowing who and what God is.

Read this passage. let it soak into your soul, God is our comfort. God is our creator and sustainer. He is our identity.
